Our History

With over 15 years experience in the Dance industry, including 6 years in London’s West End theatres and 5 years choreography experience – Hayley Warman-Johnston is dedicating time in her home city to build Southampton based Dance Company “Bustagroove”.

Hayley says “Bustagroove classes help build an individuals confidence and self esteem – learning all aspects of street dance including – old skool, locking, nu skool, breaking, new waves and robotics. Classes cater for all abilities from beginner to advanced. On top of this, attendees get the chance to socialise with other people in their age group in a friendly atmosphere and safe, welcoming environment. Hopefully keeping them away from harm and trouble, and into a positive setting where they will be encouraged to excel and progress in dance …”

Bustagroove has recently passed its 4th birthday and is fast growing in numbers. In 2010, Bustagroove will continue to expand, offering more opportunities to children/teens/adults who love to dance and are keen to progress.

Hayley started dancing at the age of 2! with the Imprial Society of Teachers of Dance, taking exams to reach her pre-associate advanced grade at the age of 16. She then continued her dance training at College before moving to London to pursue her dream of working in London’s professional theatres.

While living in London, Hayley attended regular Hip hop, fusion funk & locking classes at Pineapple Dance Studios where she found a greater passion for urban dance, so decided to step away from theatre and focus on her main passion.

Hayley now teaches dance on a full-time basis to all ages and abilities. She works closely with New Forest and Southampton school sport partnerships, visiting schools to teach students & teachers curriculum dance for P.E and performance.

Hayley is a qualified I.D.T.A. Associate Teacher in Dance with a Licentiate Degree in Street Dance and has taught various styles and aspects of dance for 12 years. Hayley is First aid trained, CRB checked, insured, has passed CACHE level 2 childcare in education and Level 3 in City and Guilds Adult Education.
