‘DANCE, MAKE YOUR MOVE’ – THE BRITISH RED CROSS

Bustagroove have been invited to attend the British Red Cross yearly charity dance competition called ‘Dance, make your move’ (Used to be called ‘Dance for Life’).

Bustagroove students have performed at this charity event every year for the past 5 years (it has become our yearly dance highlight).

The competition takes place all over Hampshire. If we win our first dance entry, we are then invited to perform at the Regional Finals held on 7th July.
If we win the regional finals then we are invited to perform in the National Finals held at The IndigO2 London, on 15th July (this is our aim ☺)

Our first round will take place at Wildern School, Hedge End, Southampton on:
Saturday 28th April for ALL Juniors.
Saturday 19th May for ALL Teens.

We ask for each student to pay £5 to cover costs of entering the event (entry fee per child which goes to The British Red Cross, make up, hair bits, props etc.)

As well as the entry fee, the British Red Cross asks if each group can raise money for the charity. I will hand out packs with all information in regarding fund raising.

This event takes up a lot of time in preparation and is put together to raise as much money for charity and for the students to have a fantastic time.

We try to keep costs of costumes to a minimum. We are always appreciative of any offer of help from parents (with costumes, hair, make up and minding the students throughout the performance day) and from previous experience we always find it to be a very busy event.

Please let June know if you can help out on the day with hair, make up & chaperone. Please note, any parent with a CRB will be our official chaperones.

This is an optional event, any student who would prefer not to enter will still be challenged and involved during class time on other technique work/routines with myself or an assistant.

Any queries, Please pop in to see Hayley during class time.

Many thanks, The Bustagroove Team.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

In the event of adverse weather conditions (floods, heavy snow etc) please always check Bustagroove’s (www.bustagroove.co.uk) website to see if classes are running for that particular day.

In the event of an emergency: Bustagroove staff will ensure that your child/children are brought out of the building safely and taken to the emergency assembly point (please ask staff where this is) where we will stay until told otherwise, please do not take your child away without letting a member of staff know that they are safe with you. We can then mark them off the register.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

REGISTRATION

Bustagroove now has a registration system where we ask all parents/guardians to fill out a form with important information to ensure we can contact you in case of emergency. Please approach a member of staff to fill out a form on your arrival. We also ask you to fill out a form of consent for any future dance shows/performances where your child may be in a picture taken by a parent or a newspaper (e.g. The Daily Echo) to know if you are happy for your child to be included the picture.

Bustagroove now asks for a 15 week block notice if choosing to leave Bustagroove classes due to increasing demand for students places. This then gives us enough notice to know weather we need to reserve your child’s place for the following block or to give to another child on the waiting list.

It is very important that your child wears trainers during dance class to protect their feet. If a child arrives to class with sandals or crocs or any footwear with heels etc unfortunately they wont be able to join in due to a risk of damaging their feet or ankles.

Please ensure your child wears suitable clothing to dance in (no skirts) we have Bustagroove t-shirts available to purchase for your child to wear to class.

Please ensure your child has a bottle of water or juice (non fizzy) to bring to class with them to cool them down & re-hydrate. Please do not give your child food to bring into class to eat as may cause belly ache (as exercising) also any form of gum is forbidden as child may choke.

If you have any queries please get in contact.

Many thanks from The Bustagroove team.
